Staff

Pastor Dirk Jasperse began serving as Refuge’s Lead Pastor in August of 2026. Dirk grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota, where God brought him to faith in Christ while in junior high through the ministry of Salem Evangelical Free Church.  After college, Dirk moved to the Chicago area to attend Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for seminary.  While there, he met his wife Katie, who grew up in Illinois, and they were married in June of 2019.

After completing his Master of Divinity degree at Trinity in May of 2020, Dirk then served as an Associate Pastor at First Evangelical Free Church of Wichita, Kansas from 2020 to 2022, before serving as Senior Pastor of Southern Hills Evangelical Free Church in Hot Springs, South Dakota from 2022 through 2025.  Dirk was ordained by the Evangelical Free Church of America in 2024.  

In his spare time, Dirk enjoys playing board games, reading, and going for walks with Katie and their dog, Scipio.
